Dr. Steven J. Spear DBA MS MS focuses on the design, use, and improvement of organisations ‘social circuitry,’ the structured patterns of exchange over which communication, coordination, and collaboration occur, the dynamics of which have a profound impact on performance, from early-stage discovery and development through downstream deployment and use.
Spear's research has been acknowledged with five Shingo Prizes and a McKinsey award from Harvard Business Review. His “Decoding the DNA of the Toyota Production System” and “Learning to Lead at Toyota,” are part of the lean manufacturing canon. He's contributed to the Boston Globe and New York Times and has appeared on Bloomberg and CBS.
Spear is principal of SeeToSolve LLC, whose SaaS products support tapping into an enterprise’s distributed and collective intelligence and he is the author of “The High Velocity Edge” and “Wiring the Winning Organization.”
He is a senior lecturer at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, where he teaches graduate and executive education courses, having advised several dozen graduate theses. He is also a senior fellow at the Institute of Healthcare Improvement.
